Once beloved for its native plants, birds, and snails, the Kuli‘ou‘ou Ridge Trail is in desperate need of restoration. Today, due to overuse and misuse, the meager remaining native forests struggle to survive against erosion, aggressive invasive species, and droughts. Downstream, the runoff from degraded forests pollutes Maunalua Bay. Restoring the Kuli‘ou‘ou Ridge Trail and the surrounding forest is a massive undertaking, but it is necessary for the health of our community, the forest, and the ocean.

Please join us in our efforts to restore this native forest. Youʻll learn how to remove invasive species, plant native plants and become a steward of the ʻāina.

Activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Removing invasive species
  • digging holes
  • planting native trees (October - May)
  • watering restoration areas and carrying gallons of water
  • creating natural barriers to block shortcuts
